The FSM Association of Chambers of Commerce (FSMACC) is a relatively young private sector organization of the Federated States of Micronesia; it is comprised of membership from the four FSM state chambers of commerce (Kosrae Chamber of Commerce, Yap Chamber of Commerce, Pohnpei Chamber of Commerce/Pohnpei Business Association, and the Chuuk State Chamber of Commerce).

The creation of a national chamber of commerce came into molding with the efforts of the National and State governments to enhance the private sector in the FSM as it holds a critical role in economic development. In 2008, the presidents of the state chambers of commerce met at a National Trade Facilitation Committee meeting and decided to formalize the FSM Chamber of Commerce to enhance their participation in the formulation of trade-related polices. At this meeting, it was also decided that the FSM Department of Resources and Development would facilitate the process and organization of the chamber of commerce.

In 2009, the FSM Department of R&D re-affirmed its commitment to the establishment of the national chamber during a meeting of the state chambers of commerce. With their assistance, FSMACC was established and chartered under the laws of the FSM National Government in March 2010. The FSM National Government through the Department of Resources and Development (R&D) has provided financial support for the FSMACC Secretariat since 2011, for two years. l

The FSMACC is a member of the Pacific Islands Private Sector Organization (PIPSO), a regional organization of private sector in the Pacific region. PIPSO has been instrumental in strengthening FSMACC and the state chambers of commerce through its services and assistance in areas of private sector development, capacity building, networking, technical assistance, trade and business development.
